Montauk Commercial Fish Docks
I had a free day and spent it at the commercial fishing docks at Montauk. I have always found working boats and the gear fascinating. This day the colors of the gear caught my attention.
Sixteen Foot Kayak Frame
A hobby of mine is building skin on frame kayaks. Recently I finished two kayaks both sixteen feet long. I built them simultaneously and when the frames were finished I photographed one frame. Perching the frame on Shinnecock Jetty was an ideal background to display the framework. Shortly when the weather permits both kayaks will be photographed in there finished state.
The Oculus New York City
Spent a few days in New York City and had a chance to photograph the new transportation hub downtown. The Oculus replaced the translation below the World Trade Center.

Long Tailed Duck
I was in Sag Harbor and spied this small flock of about ten ducks. They were a species I hadn’t seen around here before. I sat on the Village Wharf and waited for them to get within camera range and took a few photos. I looked up the ducks and found out they were Long Tailed Ducks which come down from Northern Canada to winter over.
Lifting Fog
I woke today to thick fog. After walking the dog and fixing a flat tire I got out to try to capture the feeling of the day. The problem was that the few scenes with thick fog were looking into the sun and the fog was quickly burning off. I then remembered a spot on Mecox Bay that the sun would be to my back and there might still be fog left. The two images are the results the fog is burning off and there is a mood of the expecting day.
Napeague Sunset
I was driving home from Montauk and came to the Napeague overlook to this stunning sunset. I stopped ran out and got a couple of photos.
Sunflowers
We planted sunflowers in the garden this year. In past years we planted them outside the garden fencing and the deer eat the plants. So this year I got a couple of photos of the flowers.
