Poppies at Tower of London
It’s been a busy fall and holiday season not a lot of time for photography. However I did get in a trip to London, Paris and the Loire Valley. I was in London for Armistice Day and had the opportunity to see the poppy exhibit at the Tower Of London. 880,00 ceramic poppies one for each solider killed in WWI. A very impressive exhibit.
Sand Dunes
A few days ago I had some time to walk around the dunes at Flying Point Beach in Water Mill. I had Sam my Duck Tolling Retriever with me. A close eye on the dog was needed for fear he would get into trouble or swim in the frigid waters. At one time he got himself trapped in a maze of fencing designed to hold sand on the dunes. I did manage to get a few photos, and had some fun converting them to black and white. Playing with the red filter adjustment in Silver Efex 2 made ordinary photos more dramatic. Below are a few photos from the day’s walk, hope you enjoy them.
Photos in the Snow
After a morning off shoveling snow I got a chance to take a few photos. After editing there were two photos worth sharing. The first is of pine trees on the farm behind my house the other is of the lighthouse at Montauk. I have never gotten good photo of the lighthouse with snow. The reason being by the time I get there the snow has mostly melted away and yesterday was no exception. However I was still able to get something worth while.
Recent Updates
I recently added several gallery pages to the site. Below are just a few images from these galleries. Please browse through the site and enjoy the photos.
Castle Hill Lighthouse
In October we went to Newport for a little fun for a few days. While exploring the coast we came across Castle Hill Lighthouse. The lighthouse is on the beautiful grounds of the Castle Hill Inn. While at the lighthouse I took a few photos with a DSLR and an I-Phone. I used the new pano feature of the phone’s software to get the results shown. I put a photo of the light with the DSLR as a comparison. The phone does a pretty good job, but doesn’t have the detail and losses the highlights some. It was a gray day, but I was able to use Photoshop to make the day look brighter. Still the phone photo is a pretty good quality.
