Kayak 16

Launched The kayaks!!

Friends and family came down to the shore as we launched the two new kayaks. It was a festive time, and the sun came out to cooperate with a beautiful day. Chris Foster was their to take photos. My friend John was brave enough to try paddling a boat in the chilly waters. Later we gave all the kids a ride in the boats.

Finished two sixteen foot kayaks!

The two boats are finished finally! Still haven’t had the opportunity to take them on their maiden voyages. One boat in finished in colonial burgundy the other in copper mica. Both finishes have lots of chroma. The copper has a finish that is very much like a metallic paint the mica picking up the light.

Took the finished frame to Shinnecok inlet for a photo shoot. The frames were very photogenic the jetty rocks compliment the boat frame.

I have been building two skin on frame kayaks this past year. I just finished the frames, the next step is to varnish the coamings and skin the boats.
